Alioum Moussa - All Create Together
On the Inside, the art of coffee. On the Outside: contemporary art
Each illy Art Collection can showcases a miniature masterpiece.
The illy Art Collection was first started in 1992, stemming from the idea that art can enter the lives of people through a small object of daily use. After more than 70 series of collectors’ cups were decorated by major international artists and young talents, in 2006 the Collection was extended to coffee cans: exclusive limited-edition works of art released twice a year.
An extraordinary experience of taste combining the excellence of illy coffee with the emotion of contemporary art.
The second decoration this year was created by Alioum Moussa. Moussa is an eclectic and multidisciplinary artist from Cameroon. This new piece of art was inspired by his experience at Cittadellarte - Pistoletto Foundation in Biella.
The second can of the illy Art Collection 2011 represents the contrast between Cameroon, the home of the artist, and Piedmont: the result is an energetic, lively décor, with warm colors typical of Africa blended with colder colors, representing the European continent.
Born in Maroua in Cameroon. Alioum Moussa is a visual artist, training to become an Illustrator environmentalist.
He participated in the residency project IAAB in Basel in Switzerland in 2006, touring with West African art “EXITOUR 2006". He is the winner of a visa to create the 2007 AFAA / Culturesfrance. He participated in the UNIDEE 2010 residency program hosted by the Fondazione Michelangelo Pistolleto in Biella, Italy. He lives and works in Douala, Cameroon.
Alioum Moussa joined the illysustainArt.org community in December 2010, where it is possible to view some of his artworks.
He participated in multiple creative residencies in Europe and the USA. He is also a consultant in design and graphics. His interventions in public spaces or galleries show how he has matured into an accomplished artist with flawless consistency and unfailing generosity.
Michelangelo Pistoletto - Energie Love Difference
The decoration “Energie Love Difference” adorns the illy Art Collection can available from March 2011. It was created by Michelangelo Pistoletto, winner of the Leone d’Oro for lifetime achievement at the Venice Biennale in 2003 and founder of the Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto in Biella.
Love Difference is an artistic movement promoted by the artist; its aim is to bring together, around the regions facing onto the Mediterranean Sea, people and institutions interested in creating new outlooks reaching beyond the conflict between different cultures. Here the Mediterranean is represented by a mirror, to symbolize the liquid surface merging the energies of the countries on its shores.
Michelangelo Pistoletto was born in Biella in 1933. He first made a name for himself on the International art scene in the early sixties with his Mirror Paintings. His works are part of the collections of major contemporary art galleries in Europe and the United States, such as MoMa and the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Pompidou Center in Paris, the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome and the Tate Modern in London.
“Energie Love Difference” joins earlier editions of the illy Art Collection can already created over recent years, by James Rosenquist, Michael Lin, Sebastião Salgado and Tobias Rehberger
