February 2, 2010

Trieste, February 2, 2010 – At the 29th edition of the International Exhibition of Contemporary Art ARCOmadrid (Madrid, February 17-21) illycaffè will award illy Prize, an award dedicated to young artists under 35, whose works are on display in the special section “Panorama: Los Angeles”.

The main innovation of this edition of ARCOmadrid is the choice to give hospitality to Los Angeles, one of the most lively cities of the world from an artistic point of view, which will have the leading role.

illy Prize consists of 15.000 Euros and in the chance for the young talented artist to submit a project for a new set of illy Art Collection coffee cups to illycaffè, the company based in Trieste which has been producing them for over 15 years, thanks to the involvement of famous artists and young talents accredited at international level.
The winner of this edition of illy Prize will be selected by an international panel of judges, made by two independent curators, Kris Kuramitsu and Christopher Miles, and illycaffè art director Carlo Bach.

Seventeen art galleries from Los Angeles will exhibit their artists’ works in the new section and thus participate in illy Prize: 1301PE; ACME; CHERRY AND MARTIN; CHINA ART OBJECTS GALLERIES; CHRISTOPHER GRIMES GALLERY; KATHRYN BRENNAN GALLERY; L.A. LOUVER; MARGO LEAVIN GALLERY; PERES PROJECTS; REDLING FINE ART; REGEN PROJECTS; ROSAMUND FELSEN GALLERY; SHOSHANA WAYNE; STEVE TURNER; SUSANNE VIELMETTER; THE HAPPY LION; THOMAS SOLOMON.
